Click on a link below for details on how to format your product descriptions and other text sections for web.
Q: What is HTML formatting used for?
A: You can use simple tags to style your product description text, terms/support text, or any other content on your webpage or product listing. HTML tags are used to create paragraphs, spaces between text, bold and underline effects, bullet lists, and to insert things like hyperlinks and images into your page.
Q: I’m not an HTML expert, is this something I can do?
A: Yes, very simple tags can be used for most of the text formatting that you might need – just follow the examples below and you’ll be adding professional looking formatting to your product descriptions and support content in no time!
Q: Am I required to use HTML tags in my web pages and product descriptions?
A: No, there is no custom formatting required. If you are most comfortable with entering plain text on your pages, that is perfectly fine.
Q: Can I pay you to customize my pages for me?
A: Yes, we can input and format your text for your store pages ~ we have a per-page rate for text-only pages, and additional pricing for custom features such as tables, graphics, contact forms, etc. We do NOT currently write or format product descriptions at this time.
Your listing description field and global terms text fields allow you to use standard HTML tags for formatting text, inserting links or images. Here’s a quick cheat-list on the most common basic HTML formatting tags.
Experiment with these to see how you like the results!
TEXT FORMATTING TAGS

|Bolded text:||<strong>my text, bolded</strong>|
|Italicized text:||<i>my text, italicized</i>|
|Underlined text:||<u>my text, underlined</u>|
|Multiple settings together:||<strong><u><i>my text here</i></u></strong>|
FONT STYLING TAGS

|Change the font size:||<span style=”font-size:14px”>my text here</span>|

Be sure to begin and end the list with <ul> and </ul> tags, and begin and end each row with <li> and </li> tags, like this:
|<li>This is line item 1</li>|
|<li>This is line item 2</li>|
|<li>This is line item 3</li>|
Here’s a simple table setup:
|<th>This is table header line 1</th>|
|<td>This is table data line 1</td>|
|<th>This is table header line 2</th>|
|<td>This is table data line 2</td>|
Using these tags, you can create data tables with as many rows and columns as you need.
INSERTING AN IMAGE:
First, you will need to upload the image you want to display to your image hosting account, then grab the url address for the image so you can insert it into your page.
Here are the formats for inserting an image into your text page/field:
|Basic image tag:||<img src=”http://myimageurl.jpg”>|
|Image floated left:||<img src=”http://myimageurl.jpg” style=”float:left;”>|
|Image floated right:||<img src=”http://myimageurl.jpg” style=”float:right;”>|
|Image centered:||<img src=”http://myimageurl.jpg” style=”margin:0 auto;”>|
EMBEDDING A VIDEO:
eBay allows you to insert a YouTube video clip into your listings; however, they do not permit iFrames, so you need to take a few additional steps to insert your product video in the correct acceptable format.
